Bilangan 26:9-10

26:9 Eliab’s descendants were Nemuel, Dathan, and Abiram. It was Dathan and Abiram who as leaders of the community rebelled against Moses and Aaron with the followers ¹  of Korah when they rebelled against the Lord. 26:10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and Korah at the time that company died, when the fire consumed 250 men. So they became a warning.

Bilangan 27:3

27:3 “Our father died in the wilderness, although ²  he was not part of ³  the company of those that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but he died for his own sin, ⁴  and he had no sons.

[26:9]  ¹ tn Or “company” (so KJV, NASB, NRSV); Heb “congregation.”

[27:3]  ² tn This clause begins with a vav (ו) on a pronoun, marking it out as a disjunctive vav. In this context it fits best to take it as a circumstantial clause introducing concession.

[27:3]  ³ tn Heb “in the midst of.”

[27:3]  ⁴ tn The word order is emphatic: “but in/on account of his own sins he died.”
